It’s fall time which means it’s time to forget your favorite summer beer and exchange it for a new fall one. What do we think of when transitioning to the Fall? Pumpkins, Halloween, apple picking and sweater weather to name a few. However in recent years, fall seasonal beers have definitely made their way up there in our mindset of what we think of when Fall time rolls around. Craft beer is the new trend and I think it may be here to stay for awhile– so it’s time to experiment with your favorite fall beers.
While summer offers lighter, citrus beers, you can expect both hoppier and darker beers with pumpkin flavoring and other great spices in your beer this Fall. Harvest times in the Fall can ensure us that we are getting the freshest beers out there– if you haven’t been convinced to try some already.
Being from Western New York, we are surrounded by some of the best breweries like Ellicottville Brewing Co. and Southern Tier Brewing Co. I’m here to tell you some of the best fall beer to try.
If you are a Western New Yorker, you will most likely come across local brewery seasonal beers on tap at local bars. Some Southern Tier seasonal favorites consist of Harvest, Pumpking, Old Man, and many more. Some EBC seasonal favorites consist of Fall Fest Munich Lager, Ski Bum, Caramel Apple Cuvee, and many more.
If you want to go the other route and try a bigger brewery seasonal beer, Sam Adams offers classics like Octoberfest and Pumpkin Batch. As you can see, there are endless possibilities to try that encompass all different styles and tastes.
Although our Great Lakes Festival is not until this Summer, it’s exciting to have new beers that are introduced every changing season. We are in the process of establishing which breweries will be at our festival, so be sure to stay tuned and be ready to try the latest seasonal beers at this years festival!
